This is How You Can Support the Doctor
Bank
-
Donations
-
Cash donations are needed to fund the
Doctor Bank work, and are therefore very welcome, whatever the amount.
We send an issue of News from the Rotary Doctor Bank and a thank-you
card as acknowledgement of received donations.
-
Doctors
-
A good idea for a club that wishes to make a direct contribution.
Doctors work without pay, but obviously there are other costs involved.
The cost for travel and lodging for each doctor is about
SEK 25,000.
-
Mosquito Netting
-
Nets are the best protection against malaria, a disease that kills 3 million
people annually, most of them children. The nets are distributed by our
jeep-doctors.
Each net costs only SEK 50.
-
Water for Life
-
Dug or drilled wells, and plastic bottles to "sun-purify" water - the Doctor
Bank effort to prevent disease caused by impure water.
SEK 25,000 for digging a well,
which includes pump and other extras. Water "purification" bottles
cost only SEK 1.50 each.
-
Poverty Fund
-
More than half of the people in African developing countries live in what
we call absolute poverty. If they become ill, they often can neither afford
hospital patient fees nor medication costs. Through the Doctor Bank Poverty
Fund, immediate assistance is available.
-
Rotograms
-
You must surely sometimes wish to send a happy message to good friends.
Doctor Bank Rotograms are well suited to this, and cost
SEK 120 for a pack of 6.
-
Celebrations
-
An appreciated way of celebrating someone is to use a colourful folded
congratulation card and at the same time make a donation to the Doctor Bank.
Each card costs SEK 10.
-
Commemorations
-
Instead of flowers to commemorate a dearly departed, you can use a beautiful
colour-print card and at the same time make a donation to the Doctor Bank.
Each card costs SEK 10.
-
New from the Rotary Doctor Bank
-
This newsletter issued quarterly. 195 clubs subscribe to it for their members.
An excellent idea!
All clubs can do the same:
-
30 copies of each issue costs SEK 300 per
year,
-
60 copies costs SEK 600
-
and 90 copies SEK 900.
Specify with your donation if you want the money to be used for
a particular purpose.
Orders can be made by mail, telephone, fax
or
email
.
(Approximate exchange rate: US Dollar [USD] 1 = Swedish Crowns
[SEK] 8.20)
